New volume tied cleanly into an old structure - the hardest carpentry there is, and the most rewarding.
Extensions live or die on the join. Old floors are rarely level, old walls are rarely plumb, and the new work has to meet them without a visible apology. We survey what is actually there before we order a stick of timber.
Second storeys, rear pop-outs, garage conversions and infill additions - planned in stages so the house stays liveable for as much of the build as possible.
